With the hot desert summer months at Edwards Air Force Base combined with high energy costs, it is important that everyone is energy conscious and conserves as much as possible. One way to save and stay cool is Thermal Energy Storage Plants which help offset energy use. The first unit was installed in building 3000, followed by other plants in building 145 and 151 and with more underway. These units perform most of their work at night when energy is cheaper. Additional energy conservation measures include reflective roofing and tinted windows, but there is more that Team Edwards can do. In Edwards housing area, just like the working environment, several measures have been taken to reduce energy use. Melissa Buchanan, Edwards Air Force Base, California.
