Installation time and general performance test of Photoshop CS4 Extended loaded on the Asus Eee 1005HA-P netbook Seashell mini laptop computer.

Opening and basic image editing is fine,but more processor intensive tasks will noticeably slow down your Photoshop experience. Complex rendering and layer work with HDR for example. Also remember to set your screen resolution to its highest or some of windows won't fit. You'll have to scroll the whole window a bit, but that's the only way sometimes to se the full screen such as when converting from RAW dialogue box or saving to JPG window.

I highly recommend you upgrade the memory to 2MB of RAM since you'll need all the boost you can get. Even though it doesn't take full advantage of the 800MHz speed, get it for the extra headroom. Overall performance was good, not as fast as if it were running on a more powerful laptop or desktop, but will suffice for on the road viewing and quick editing.

Awesome portable with near ten hour battery life (In power saving mode.) on a single charge. The size and weight makes this perfect for on the go. There are two versions of the 1005HA, indicated by the letters the "P" (Premium) or "V" (Value) after the HA model designation.

The "P" (Performance) has the Atom N280 processor running at 1.66 GHz with the glossy screen and 10.5 hour 6 cell battery and included soft case.

The "V" (Value) model has the matte screen and no bluetooth running on the slightly slower Atom N270 processor at 1.6GHz and an 8.5 hour battery. No soft case provided.

I wish they offered the matte screen with the higher end specs. The screen is very reflective and can be tough to see outdoors or indoors with bright directional light hitting it. The screen does not fold out as far as previous models and the build quality seems kinda cheap compared to my 901 model. There is a memory door with one screw on the bottom to quickly upgrade the 1GB with a 2GB module, but no access to the hard drive area anymore.

It is a good buy, although the netbook market is getting pretty competitive. The HP models are good too.

well i personally installed PS4 extended. Its all good but the only thing thats bothering me is, it cant fit my 1024 x 600 resolution. Anyone know how to over come this issue?
