! As is generally known, this song's lyrics is based on a poem by Hugo Claus. But in contrary to what Bert Ostyn repeatedly claims in several interviews, he did not translate it himself. In reality he took John Irons work, who translated a series of Claus' poems to English in 2005, and just minorly adapted it.
For the curious: You can find the original translation on Poetry Internation web easily through google. The similarities will be obvious.

Hm die openingsriff (die later als motief terug door de song opduikt) ken ik! Hetzelfde als gekend uit 'Crazy on you' van Heart (1977). Plagiaat?

De tekst is gebaseerd op een gedicht van Hugo Claus (op Nederlands initiatief werden 12 gedichten van Claus in een song gegoten) , de gitaarriff gelijkt op die van Bob Dylan's Hurricane Carter. Maar tegenwoordig kun je dat bij 95% van de nieuwe songs zeggen, iedereen laat zich inspireren door eerder uitgebrachte songs.
