Kentucky Fried Chicken, a unit of Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM), will celebrate 70 years of the Original Recipe with an attempt to reclaim the world record for the largest serving of fried chicken on Tuesday in Louisville, Ky.
Doug Hasselo, chief food innovation officer for KFC commented, "To attempt to bring the world record back to its rightful home, Kentucky, we've teamed with Pilgrim's Pride to cook up a giant bucket of fried chicken worthy of the 70th Anniversary of the Original Recipe, We're hoping plenty of KFC fans join us in this record-breaking endeavor tomorrow."
The record, set by KFC overseas in 2009, was broken in Brookville, Ind. with 1,645 pounds of chicken. KFC will be cooking up more than 2,000 pounds of fried chicken for the event.
Free samples will be available after the record-breaking attempt at noon and KFC will also donate chicken to the Dare to Care Food Bank in Louisville.
YUM! Brands, Inc. is currently trading 0.15 percent lower at $40.79.
