My favorite Robert Palmer song. If I remember correctly, the bassist on this track is Bob Babbitt(one of the Funk Bros of Motown & an ex-pro wrestler!). I tried to learn it note-for-note but I'm sure I'll discover there may be parts that are different from the original in the future. It always happens that way; when I listen to the track again I'll always hear something I didn't hear before.

Lots of cool lines in this one, especially the descending BMaj7 lick at about 1:32, which happens again during the solo.

My performance isn't as smooth as I'd want but I just learned this yesterday. I hope you'll enjoy it anyways!

  • @richypike Thanks!

  • Hey bro that was magical, is it in standard tuning? also please hook me up with the tab for how you play it :)

  • @PureMetalMadness Yeah, standard tuning. Sorry, didn't use tabs for this.

  • Don't just play notes.

  • Pls post a vid or something I can learn from. Show me how to do it right. I'm always open to learning stuff from great players!

  • can you do she makes my day, i would love to hear the bassline!!

  • Very well done. One of my all time favorite songs. Our band is working this up and I can't wait until we play it.

  • Great bass line. You are correct that Bob Babbit played the original.

  • @subersibo

Fantastic job! I have watched this over and over and enjoy it more each time. Still learning to play bass but it inspires me to keep at it. Thanks for this awesome post.

  • Terrific! This is a great song if you listen primarily to Robert's vocals, and then it's an equally great but different song if you focus on the bass work. Now I wish I could play bass!
