This kite is designed to fly at extremely high altitudes to take advantage of steadier winds. It is also filled with helium to keep it up when the wind drops. It turns a generator on the the axis to create electricity as it revolves. It is designed by a Canadian firm and was being demonstrated in Port Colborne, Ontario at the Niagara Wind Riders Canal Days festival in 2006 For more see http://www.magenn.com/

  • the song in the background was "dream a little dream of me" by Mama Cass

  • it produces elecricity by spinning - today's generators requires turbines to be spun to create electricity. Because this kite spins, if you put a turbine inside - you've got power.

  • I don't think there is any power generated in this video (it looks like a mock-up), but the idea here is that the vanes on the blimp cause it to rotate in the wind, and this rotation runs a generator onboard the blimp. The electricity is then transmitted back to the ground through a conductive wire in the tether.

  • go to their website magenn.something i guess there is answer i guess=)

  • Can anyone explain how electricity is produced in this video?
