This is a short video on how to prepare squirrel with some wild edibles during the winter. The wintergreen berries add a very nice sweetness, while the White Pine adds a bite and also some Vitamin C. Harvesting an animal is something I approach with respect and I encourage all of you to do. A wild squirrel is a fur bearing animal that lives it's life in the wild on all organic food and in return is all organic. As I say in the video, if this was a survival situation, with the way the squirrel is cooked, you'd be pretty content. Finally, always be prepared when heading out into the wilderness even if it's just for the afternoon. Hope you enjoy the video.

  • Excellent video! Made me feel like I was there. Great job!

  • @99tdtdtd Thanks 99! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • You can boil them and then fry them up with a little batter and they are very good. You can also boil the whole thing (minus the head and guts) and make a stew out of it. Just have to pick the bones out of it. Good video.

  • @benjamindshoemaker Thanks ben. That sounds like a good idea. I wish I could eat more but grey squirrels are hard to find in the wild. They live everywhere in residential areas and only red squirrels are abundant in the woods. They are illegal to hunt here unfortunately. I've heard and seen the batter but never tasted. I can imagine that would be great. As well I've tried the mid section and yes the bones sure do get in the way. Thanks for watching.

  • Very interesting vid. Thanks man!

  • @Imasofat Hey Gary. I know it's a big stemoff from the original videos but thanks for watching. Hope you and Melissa are doing well. Cheers brother.

  • @ppolitowicz Yes they do just very small.

  • @GospelFisherman Thanks GospelFisherman. I would have liked to but I didn't want the video to be flagged. I tried to make it a little bit more viewer friendly that way. I normally make an incision mid back and stretch the skin both ways though. Pull one way to the head and your other fingers to the feet and it comes off real easy. Then you gut it like any other animal, rinse, and enjoy. Peace brother.

  • Good video thanks for sharing. Would have liked to see how you skinned it though.

  • @PamelaGSmith Thanks Rick. Cheers.
