Artists create visuals. Very few humans I'm aware of could paint a picture with words as well as Hartford. What's scary is that he was probably a better player than he was a lyricist. The word genius gets tossed around haphazardly. I think it probably applies aptly with Hartford.

@jdnamb .... Yet, I'm glad that my honey and I were not that couple that y'all burned!

Mrpickwick, thanks for this wonderful tribute. I miss the man terribly but his music lives on.

I have been listening to this album for 30 years, I think. It NEVER gets old.

Today I ran into an old friend that I hadn't seen in about 20-25 years. We used to party, down some drinks, spin some John Hartford on the record player. This was just the song I wanted to hear tonight. Those were the goodle days and I thank Danny for introducing me to Johns music!

One More Messege
John Hartford is an American classic. At the Post Office (club) in Augusta, I was watching his chord progressions more than listening to the song. He never missed a beat, stopped singing the lyrics and started singing the chord progressions. I looked at him, and he had this big grin on his face, then he made a comment about experiencing the song instead of picking it apart. Then he continued on with the song. Afterwards, we went out to his "silver bullet" and burned a couple. Great night!

This one is wonderful. Banjo and blue grass at it's best.
