Shane Warne is asked by English wicketkeeper Alec Stewart to come out of the dressing room to speak to the rowdy MCG crowd and stop them from throwing bottles and balls and rubish onto the ground. I was actually there that night and it was an unbelievable atmosphere, the place was amped.

  • The Aussies were winning, why did the crowd get rowdy?

  • You're right, they were winning. I was at this game. England didn't make a very big score when they batted, and Australia was going to chase their score really easily. So when the crowd figured out that we would win easy, they decided to make their own entertainment. I counted the mexican wave, it went round 36 times and each time it went round, more people started throwing empty cups. Coke had a promo going and alot of the crowd has plastic drink bottles and squirted water up in the air.

  • In the Melbourne Cricket Ground each part of the stadium is divided up into sections which they call "bays". At the MCG there is always a spot where all the Yobbo's who are generally drunk sit and watch the game. I was in the Olympic stand which was next to that group. But Coca-Cola had a promotion on that day. If you bought a coke it came in a squirty sports bottle. So everyone had them and every time the wave went past they squirted it in the air, when that ran out they threw rubbish.
