The NAERIC Trainer's Challenge takes place each spring in Brandon, Manitoba, at a three day equine clinic called Horse 3. Over three days, three trainers have four hours to take a Manitoba-bred colt from barely halter-broke to well started under saddle. The trainers work with the horses in 1-hour intervals, and on Sunday evening, they take their youngsters through a sort of obstacle course, testing the horse's trust in its rider. A winner was selected by a panel of three judges.
Jon Ensign had a real challenge at this year's H3; the horse and he just weren't able to connect. He didn't ride her but finished the showdown sitting on the rails at the ringside and she finally started to connect with him.

I'd like to see spoiled horses used at Trainer's Challenges. That would be a real challenge of their skills, not these babies that don't know enough to be afraid.
