As I said I would, heres my final goodbye video to Mac.
Im sorry for the 3 month wait, I must say I've been incredibly lazy and just been adding little bits at a time to this, but only just got round to actually finishing it and uploading it!
Right, i'll get the negative stuff quickly out of the way!
I ended with Mac at the end of June, and as some of you may know, the main reason were:-
1- I was really outgrowing him
2) He was beginning to do driving competitions a lot more often and I missed lots of rides
3) Where he was doing lots more driving he was stronger than ever and I had to ride him in a snaffle (the 3 ring on occasions which he was still far too strong for) so I really wasn't enjoying the rides.
Right, onto the positives!
I know this is what so many people say, but I can't find a better way to describe my feeling. Mac really did teach me SO much. If anything, the most any horse or pony has.
I know this is the typical thing to say, but we really did come far. From galloping round a course with no brakes whatsoever, to getting dc's with few exceptions of just a pole. It not all about the shows though of course, as our results didn't show enough of our accomplishments. Many shows, I just thought of myself as a failure and that I wasn't good enough, constantly lacking in belief in myself.
But never have I received such lovely comments from people watching or other riders at the ring side. People saw what Mac was like at the beginning, he had so much potential, but was young and green, so they saw us grow and improve in the times I didn't see it, and each time they had something positive to make a point over coming over and saying to us. Our most successful and our penultimate show, we received the best comments I could ever have wanted to hear from someone else! That day it was the most control I had ever had Mac around a course, and we got our first double clear around a proper show jumping course.
Without the help from his owners and of course Mac himself, I would have never been able to do it. I would come home in tears saying how I wasn't right for Mac and I couldn't ride, but his owners always pushed me into thinking more positively and to not give up, and gave me some very meaningful comments during my time with Mac, and the day I left, which I will never forget.
I will be honest now, I really can't be bothered to right a longer description as I don't expect any of you are even reading this and I could write so much about Mac and I both achieved together.
Although I left him as I wasn't enjoying riding him as much, I really do love my little man, and I'm so happy with what I have learnt from him, what he has learnt from me, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to have loaned him.
I will be asking his owners within the next month if i'm allowed to go visit, so I will hopefully be able to see his beautiful cheeky face again!
I really love receiving all the comments, and as it only takes a second to write one i'd really appreciate it :)
Please comment, rate and subscribe! x
