Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Review

Thanks to Sandra Rychlicka for lending me the lens!

I shot this aaaages ago and I've just thrown it together as a mini-review. I'll probably buy this lens soon. This is the first video I've every made using Sony Vegas! It's fantastic!

I've got an EOS 550d with kit lens. To expand it I was thinking about the Canon EF 75-300 (non usm), Tamron 70-300 Di LD or Canon EF-S 55-250. It's going to be the last one because of the advantage of the video mode & IS.Convincing, great review.

Chris, good and thorough review. I got the lens as part of my kit with the T2i. I've since upgraded to the 70-200 f4 is, but kept this as a spare and for when I want to be less conspicuous. I can spot a difference in shots from each lens, but this one definitely holds its own, especially in the sharpness dept. As an aside - mine makes the same noises when manually focusing.

@bknabel Thanks for the kind comments...I WISH I had the 70-200 f4! Don't bother telling ColeJMproductions about the crazy manual focus noise though...he won't believe a word you say haha

You realize you are not supposed to twist the focus ring when auto focus is enabled, if manual focus was on it would not be so loud.

@uangakisima Absolutely not. I just got a brand new copy of this lens for Christmas. Straight out of the box, it made exactly the same noise. And that was the mark ii edition. Now no more of this broken focus motor nonsense!!!
