  • @kimchiikim Yeah, but you're going to meet a lot of nationalists saying they're the origin of something or another. It's likely many Japanese instruments and styles were transferred from China through Korea and into Japan, since there are some direct similarities between Japan and China, not just Japan and Korea. Overall, many civilizations of east Asia had a major effect on each other culturally.

  • @TheKorChn actually i would say it arises mainly from the fact that most instruments used in old Japan and Korea were actually versions of chinese instruments that both nations were exposed too due to the thousands of years of inter-relations...having this common root inevitably leads to similarities.
