How the EU pays to lobby itself

Daniel Hannan, Conservative MEP for the South East, giving a speech in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the 13th January 2009 in which he criticises the adoption of a report calling for greater civil dialogue under the still unratified Lisbon Treaty.

I love his Latin and quotes! I am not blessed with any such degree (I studied film for crying out loud) and half my education was in the American public schools (a term which apparently is the opposite in the UK?), and I don't think it's alienating. I think it's very interesting. I too was wondering what he keeps saying at the end of every speech. Now that I know, I think he is fifty times more awesome.

@Anthony1525 He says "The treaty of Lisbon must be put to a referendum." at the end of every speech. It is a reference to Cato the Elder always saying "Cartago delenda est" or "Carthage must be destroyed" at the end of every speech in the Roman senate, even if he wasn't talking about Carthage. Eventually Rome did raze Carthage to the ground in the Punic wars.

I think it's a nice touch, and I hope Mr. Hannan keeps up the fight.

Hannan should look at the widespread electoral fraud in 2004 in America such republican city councils orchestrating long que lines at polling stations to discourage people to vote and a low turn out in certain areas benefiting George Bush

Democracy is a sham, no country country is a true democracy

How many people voted for the Iraq war ? or 3 billion dollars in Aid to Israel ? a country which ignores American demands to not build houses on Palestinian land

The greatest reason that EU supporters seem capable of making for Britain staying in The EU seems to be based largely on our inadequacy in Britain to stand alone due to the MASSIVE and malign damage membership has already done to Britain.

If someone deliberately and sequentially cuts your fingers is it wise to remain as they cut your throat?
