Never heard of that horse. I really don't think there is a horse more famous than Barbaro in the grand scheme of things. Yeah we had our TC champs. Ruffian was beautiful. Barbaro was beyond the best. Acually he still is.

oh... it's beautiful! I've been thinking about Barbaro a lot recently, what with the derby coming up and his brother racing. I miss him so much :( I have a question, where did you get the kentucky derby clip of barbaro?

@RidingWithRuffian I believe it was Brother Derek who kicked him accidently, if you watch the replay you can actually see Brother derek going right behind him, really close, right at the moment Barbaro was injured.

Looks like a beautiful statue .... though if it were up to me it would be at the Kentucky Horse Park. Very nice video.

@Vydio Yes, it is gorgeous! and I agree, I would have placed him there too. He could lay with the other bests such as Man O' War, Secretariat, John Henry, War Admiral, etc.

He didnt trip over his foot. He had kicked in the gate and broke out, then they reloaded him thinking he was fine, but when the gates opened the second time, he started running and took a wrong step. So his foot they was already slightly injured from breaking out, was shattered. It was horrible to watch, i wasnt there but i watched the 2 hour special about him on HBO one night. I cried so hard. It was really sad, and I am so happy they made him a statue. R.I.P. Barbaro!

No they would have known if it was broken, he didn't break anything from the starting gate. He just took a bad step. I wasn't there either, but I remember watching it that day hoping he could beat Bernardini, and knowing he would win the TC. Its really sad, but God knew Barbaro was too good for our earthly tacks.

I think he was going too fast & triped on his foot. I don't remember:)

Yea I don't think they've ever really found the reason why, but I say God took him because he was too good for us.
