  • Maybe with carrier going flank speed or 38knots into a 100+ mph headwind it might be possible.

  • You got it - I created the video like that.

  • what are the keyboard shortcuts to take off

    thanks

  • Where is the Carrier ?????????????????

  • The aircraft carrier?

  • Hi, I wonder anyone knows the speed of the aircraft carrier in the game X-plane 9? Thanks

  • @v12tommy dude.......its a Freaking Gme Games are NEVER 100% Realistci

  • Cool!

  • Sweet. Now if only that were the crazy new USS Nimitz that KhamsinStudio has developed for XPlane. Man.

  • @timcaywood would never happen. The orbiter weighs more than anything that can land on a carrier, not to mention you could write off 12+ billion dollars if you mess up. You can buy almost 3 new carriers for the same price!! Also NASA doesn't want the military involved in the shuttle program. That was the reason they bought and developed their own 747 transport planes instead of using the C5A for transport.

  • @bmwnasher even more than that, most people don't realize just how massive the shuttle is. In just weight alone, I don't think the carrier deck could support the orbiter just sitting there, let alone slamming down on the deck. Plus the orbiter is worth almost 3 times what the entire carrier and its contents are worth.

  • @Membrane556 The orbiter has brakes on the rear wheels, but there has only been one landing at White Sands, and the tires were fine. The orbiter itself did get damaged from the sand and that is why there has only been one landing there. Tires were originally considered as a cause of the Columbia disaster, but were eventually ruled out. There was one orbiter which experienced a blow out, but it was not due to braking.
