Ra was an alien that self proclaimed and let others believe he was a God but really he was as vulnerable as every other being.

Jaye attracts men and women in equal measure. He is the perfect androgynous beauty - graceful but lethal. Soft but ferociously powerful.

00:48 - You're fucked now Ra!
Stargate SG1 had more similarities than differences to this, the original 1994 motion picture, but built up its own backstory and had its own spin. Ditto for the 1990s Highlander live action and animated television spin-offs of the original 1986 motion picture.

@mgk22 2nd response. I know it's a pedantic point, but it's mainly a response to people saying stuff like "the series is wrong, Ra wasn't a weird snake thing" (which I got a lot of before I added the annotations). Of course, while the series is wrong with respect to the movie, it isn't wrong with respect to itself, it's simply just changed a few things here and there. Hence things just depends on which canon you follow.

@mgk22 I agree that the series is a continuation of the movie, but there are inconsistencies. Most people's approach is to ignore them, I prefer to think of the movie and series in two canons. While the events of the movie are canon to the series, the technical details are not.
-
@boo453 you mentioned 2 out of 3 things i already said but even so those are things that in my opinion dont really matter completely you can watch the movie and go straight into the t.v. series since the events in this movie are mentioned several times in the show while those technical differences can establish separate continuities especially if Devlin ever made the sequel he wants the events of the film are what are important since it effects what happens in the series

@mgk22 There are more inconsistencies than that. Is Abydos in some far away galaxy or the milky way? Is Ra a Goa'uld or a weird alien thing? Is it O'Neill or O'Neil? The answer depends on which canon you follow.
-
@boo453 I dont see how its that inconsistent. The way I see it you have to watch the movie first because without the movie there would never be a stargate but apart from the changes from movie to t.v. there really isn't that much that is changed apart from Ra being Goa'uld instead of a humanoid and the jaffa of course looking different in the show and different name spelling what happens in the movie is referenced several times(though I would like to see Devlin had wanted to do with the series)

@jopeon1983 what are the names of the novels which one is the first that I should start with and how many are there?

I just love the moment he notices the bomb, the fear in his eyes is just amazing because he knows he can't escape this one. Greatest movie in my opinion.

I love Ra's epic eyebrow raise. "Oh damn." Is probably what he's thinking. 00:48
During a four thousand year war with the Asgard, Ra found himself leaving his Una host and taking the body of the Asgard Famrir as his new host. However shortly after Ra was wounded in battle and the Asgard physiology began to reject the Goa'uld Symbiote. Ra began searching for ways that he could possibly cheat death and discovered Earth.
