I did this for a school project where I cut open 4 different battery types, Lithium-Ion (Energizer), Zinc-Carbon (Walgreens brand), Alkaline (Duracell), and Nickel Cadmium (Random RC Car battery). The experiment went smoothly, but I discovered something very surprising about one of the batteries. What is it? Watch and find out :p. Something to note, I did mess up a few times with my facts in the recording, bear with me, it was a new topic in class. Specifically, I mess up with the definition of an acid at some point. I was lazy and didn't review the video before i uploaded it so i don't know when, but it happens xD. Feel free to rate, comment, and I will try to respond to any and all questions you may have.

  • Yeah I though he was an attention whore too. Anyways thanks for understanding.

  • @kylemispel Well that is true. However, I then took these solutions and tested them on plants. The Nickel-Cadmium plants stayed alive for about 2 weeks. The Lithium plants were shriveled dust within a couple days.

  • The last battery comprises lithium, a metal of the alkali group in the periodic table. This family comprises sodium, potassium, etc. The alkali metals react vigorously with water, hence the 'pièce de résistance'. However I wouldn't say that it is worse for the environement than the others... I would even argue that the heavy metal residues (such as cadmium) that come from tossing the other kinds of battery are worse.

  • @schmegelbob13 *battery
