Historically, the Guajiras strain of Flamenco was brought back to Spain by Conquistadores who had spent time in my native Cuba. That and the Rumba, also Cuban, have since become an integral part of the Flamenco oeuvre. But this piece by Palacin is amazing for the way he uses the Cuban decima campesina poetic form in his Flamenco song. The applause is for the cleverness of the lines. A brilliant fusion of traditions.
