The video describes the phenomenon called Greenhouse Effect. The glass house in the video is a prototype of our atmosphere. The house receives light of different frequencies from the sun. Radiations absorbed by the objects within the glass house are radiated back to the air. As a result heat radiations are trapped within the glass house. This eventually increases the temperature inside the glass house. This kind of house is also called 'green house' and hence 'greenhouse effect'. Similar phenomenon is observed in our atmosphere. Infrared radiations radiated back from the ground to the atmosphere are trapped by molecules like carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, water vapor etc. Thus, our atmospheric temperature rises. Carbon dioxide from the exhaust gases of cars, factories, etc. contributes a lot to the rise in greenhouse effect.

there is a big difference between a greenhouse and the greenhouse effect. " greenhouse effect heats the earth because greenhouse gases absorb outgoing radiative energy and re-emit some of it back towards earth."

Unfortunate unless we have a scientist in office we will continue the production of CO2. Since 1860 CO2 has risen by 25% and earth's average temp has increase by .6% and continues to increase. Sure it may not seem to threatening now to many political skeptics but either way there is nothing immoral about trying to play safe weather it's believable or not. I am a skeptic. So far i cant argue with scientific facts nor statistic on the warming of the earth. When in doubt, further you research :D

@IndrasBlade77 satelite images don't lie, they show holes in the ozone that are actually getting bigger.

@IndrasBlade77 What model do you use to explain the sooner than expected fall/collapse of the Larson B shelf? If you say localized warming, what model do you have to explain the cause of said warming?
Even if you don't say localized warming, there is no doubt that localized warming is significant in the polar regions. What model do you use to explain said localized warming?
