Another scene clipped together from various adaptations of "Pride & Prejudice"...this is when Lady Catherine visits Elizabeth Bennet to ask her if she is engaged to Mr. Darcy.

The most recent film is the 2005 Focus Features version starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Dame Judi Dench as Lady Catherine de Bourg.

The 1995 BBC/A&E Production stars Jennifer Ehle, with Barbara Leigh-Hunt as Lady Catherine.

And the comic relief comes from Greer Garson's Miss Bennet in the 1940 MGM version which also stars Edna May Oliver. (It should be noted that I left out some of the funniest, slapstick bits in this scene so you should really see the whole thing when you get the chance.)

Hope all the fans of each version enjoy the way I've clipped them together!

  • I'm sorry, but the 1995 version really is the one! It's a lovely long scene, and each of the actors were perfectly suited to thier roles. Perfectly written and a perfect adaptation to the book. It really is the best show down in all Austen!

  • The Lady Catherine of 1995 is straight out of the novel. My favorite part is when we first see her in her grandeur at Rosings; she looks like a painting come to life. Nothing compares (in storyline, mood, characters, settings, dialogue, or otherwise) to the BBC's 1995 miniseries.

  • the 1940 version is a lot different than the others

and it is definitely more funny! thou so far from the book as possible to be!

  • 1995, hand down.

  • @loulie1997 Yeah, that makes sense, Dench tends to have that effect :)

  • @EmpressJudge13 i suppose a bit of both!! XD

  • @loulie1997 ... In a good way, or a bad way?

  • The 1940s version is a rather liberal interpretation of the original character.

  • @MoxiesSMKvids thanks a lot!!

  • @piratekid1 Good luck!!! :)

  • 50th "like"!! I'm watching this to help myself for an audition I have tomorrow

  • I do love nearly all of the actors and actresses in the 1995 version better but I have to admit... Judi Dench made me sink back in my chair a bit...
