I too am a big fan of Pete's use of synthesizers. The way he played and arranged guitar, voice, synth, piano and occasional banjo and such, I find it amazing. He's waaaay more than a guitar smasher and windmill arm swinger. I like the 1975 arrangements of Tommy very much; it's as if Tommy was Quadrophenia-ized.

I bought the LP from the Columbia Record Club. It counted as two selections. I had the Overture on the 45. Ironically, this was the same 45 coupling for the Who's original version. If I recall correctly, the Overture was added to the CD release. One scary thing is that I remember most of the songs. If Roger and Pete got sick, I could substitute. May they never ask!

This version of OVERTURE, was not originally excluded from the LP. Few people knew it existence since it was only released as a by then 45 single with SEE ME FEEL ME as A side. This is OVERTURE differs a lot from the original WHO version. Both versions are very good. A third version you can find on the LONDON SYNPHONY ORCHESTA version. This version was recorded and played solely by PETE TOWNSHEND !!
This overture sounds like it is from the ORIGINAL .
The image you have displayed is from their remake.
Cheers!
