CLASSIC GAMES REVISITED - Kinect Hacks

I hooked up my Xbox 360 Kinect to my computer and used a program called FAAST to play Super Mario Bros. Pretty cool, but playing SMB with a Kinect is a bit like trying to pat your head and simultaneously rub your stomach while driving a car.

Interesting video, even though SMB obviously isn't designed with Kinect in mind, it seemed to be reading your movements pretty well, though you did keep pausing by accident. It's cool how you can play games like that, if I was gonna choose between the Kinect and PS Move I'd definitely opt for the Kinect since it's less of a Wii clone. What are your thoughts on the Kinect itself?

@TheVideoGameJunkie99 The Kinect is a very cool and innovative device. Lots of possibilities for it. I haven't been impressed though with what the game development community has produced for it so far - but hopefully we'll see some impressive games soon. I can see it revolutionizing how we interact with computers - much like the mouse when it was first developed.

How did you get the idea to do this? You did great man! I laughed through this entire video. I love how you kept pausing it on accident. I have to say, this technology is very cool.

@vintagevideogamegeek There are others out there that have made the Kinect work for Warcraft and a few other PC games. Not much out there for console stuff, as it's a PC-centric hack. I, of course, took it to the next level by playing old school games with it. Next on my list is Advanced Dungeons & Dragons for the Intellivision (LOL). It is very cool technology - can't wait to see more of it in the future.

I see you're playing the PAL version. I don't suppose you know of a place to find a working copy of the US version? Every one I've found has had problems (header issues, I believe), and the PAL version is annoying as hell. The FDS version is fine, but you have to wait through the stupid startup screens.

@onpon4 Sorry, it was tough enough finding the PAL rom because there is like 8 trillion SMB hacked roms out there.
