Would a Kenmore (Fridgidaire) at least 8 years old (came with the house) possibly have both a defrost thermostat (which I can see) AND a defrost timer? Or do they just have one or the other?

I have one to replace that has four wires but the new one they sent me has only two. Did they send the wrong part or is there a way to hook that one up?
