JMS Compound Boost
50mm Twin Turbos blowing into Vortech S trim Supercharger
JMS Custom Fabricated Rear Mounted Mustang 50mm Twin Turbo Kit
and a custom modified Vortech S Trim Kit
All on a bone stock suspension 1992 Mustang LX 5.0L

20.3psi = 559 rwhp / 584 ft-lbs on 93 octane
At 4500rpm the vehicle makes 584ft-lbs of torque, the 4r75w converter clutch is unable to handle the power and it unlocks and the power flat lines with the unlocked converter (normal). If the converter would have remained locked the power would have been well above 600rwhp.

This vehicle is not a race car, you can drive this vehicle anywhere with the AC on.

Low compression 306ci Engine built by JMS: TFS Heads,
Victor Intake with Hydraulic Roller Cam
Custom 4r75W JMS Transmission
Factory ECM (A9P) + Custom JMS Calibration

Includes comparisons on the same car between 62mm turbos and 50mm Twin Turbos and 50mm Twin Turbos blowing into a Vortech S trim Supercharger.

  • Is your Cobra connected to an Automatic Transmission?

    Probably not :)

Also does your Cobra run in the 10's in the 1/4 mile?

    Probably not :)

Was your Cobra built from parts that were lying around?

    Probably not :)

Does your Cobra have a unique one of a kind power train?

    Probably not :)

This same engine setup has made over 800rwhp but not on 93 octane :).

  • JMS calibrated this vehicle using a custom Chip from SCT.

  • @seandum now that is funny

  • 6500

  • @chipstadley1 Agreed but what RPM did it make the 522? Just curious, no offense is meant.

  • Hp numbers are extremely low considering it's a 306 pushing 20lbs of boost, I just built and sold a 306 car with a Vortech ysi trim that pulled 522 on the dyno. And that was a very conservative tune on 16lbs boost.

  • take the vortech shit off and put a kenne bell on that. then i would be impressed

  • JMSchip - No matter how you slice it - auto trans, misc parts or whatever. The bottom line is this is not much hp for the work and parts. The potential may be there, but these numbers are NOT impressive. There are 4 and 6 cylinder cars making more power and running faster with a single turbo... and yes I run well into the 10s on a street driven Cobra. I have another friend running 700+ hp on an NA car running high 9s. A car with twin turbos and a supercharger in my mind better run 1800+.

  • i guess i dont c the point of haveing 2 turbos feeding a super charger it looks like a lot of money spent 4 the hp and tq just me . 3 power adders and thats all u get

  • Impressive setup but poor numbers. I would expect more from a compound boosted car. My Cobra is tuned to make more than that on a stock Eaton charger.

  • I love it, first time I have seen a setup like this on the dyno.

I am building a similar setup for my 4runner right now. Except will be using a single 62mm turbo and the supercharger will be a roots style so that I can "turn it off" once the turbo is spooled. It should also give me better low end then a vortech as well since it is positive displacement.

Good to see some results to let me know I am on the right track!
