In this quick episode, I'm joined by the Gakuranman who takes me to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji, a temple on the outskirts of Kyoto. It's most known for its Rakan statues, in the video you find out why.

    Interesting clip, yet you forgot the most important part -- these statues were not carved in centuries past, but only recently, since 1955. Missing such a point really makes your work "commercial" with no true concern for truth. The famous modern Buddhist sculptor Nishimura Kōchō (1915-1989) became head priest at this temple in 1955. He then invited lay people & showed them how to carve simple stone statues -- the statues that now adorn the temple.

    Koichi, a bit off topic but I prefer Brave Chandelier's early EP's than their new album. The album version of "Sinking Ship" was really butchered, IMO.... plus the album doesn't have "Short Days" D=

    Do you know of a good Japanese/English dictionary website?

    I've always gone to Jisho.org, but recently I was told my Japanese was very "unnatural" and I feel that my meanings might be lost in translation due to the vocabulary I pick up on Jisho.org. Thanks in advance, and great channel!
