Electro-Sonic Painting
1. The process of intertwining painting and electronic sound in the creation of a work of art and or soundscape.
Electro-Sonic Painting is a process in which the artist paints with an amplified brush or tool used to simultaneously create a fine work of art as well as music developed by visual artist marcus brown.
Marcus brown began the development of this process in the early part of the 21st century. Brown further pioneered this new process with sound designer Nathan Wedienhaft after forming a performance group PAINT in New Orleans.
Employing custom-designed, microphone-equipped paintbrushes and canvases connected to various digital effects and amplifiers, Brown has pioneered an art form he calls electrosonic painting, whereby the creation of a work of visual art is not only watched, but heard - even felt - by those in attendance.
The result is that Brown might just be the only painter in America today who legitimately hopes that people will dance to his paintings. - JOE NICKELL of the Missoulian
