I like arabian shows cuz we actually know how to RIDE instead of some people who ride their back in the day horses around like idiots and put them up to eat while they are still sweaty and call that riding

I'm not gonna comment on the horsemanship or the substance of the horse, but I just have to say that that foal is gorgeous.

Look at this video:
you tube.com /watch?v=qLmi3dukjM8&feature=p
layer_embedded Notice that at no point does my mare show any signs of anger. When I'm "shanking and hurting her," she has her ears flopped out to the side and is licking her lips. She has FUN. Look at AO Breeze, undefeated in jumpers at OPEN shows, but halter champion stallion. Yes, there are some cruelly treated & poorly bred halter horses, but we have those in EVERY discipline.

That's exactly what we are and what others are not. A horse person puts the comfort and needs of their horse above their own desire for cheap ribbons and titles. There is no excuse to cause discomfort to your horse and if I have to shank the bejesus out of my horse to get him to "look alive", then perhaps I should pick another horse that actually enoys the show scene.

if you showed big time you would do anything to get your horse to look alive and you have to have chains..some horse person you are

Okay first it seems like your right....my horse hates loud noises like that...and i use to go to an arab barn don't worry arabs don't like it it gets them stressed...thats why they have that hot hot behavior! when there ears are on the sides that means they are bored tired ect. when there ears are up front that means that they are listening to something scary or see something scary!

Oh my God thank you. I'm so glad I'm not the only one left in the world that seems to feel my horse deserves more than that. We only show at the local levels and still see these things happening. And the noise is annoying and unnessecary. It's obviously not making a difference in the horse, his ears aren't even pricked toward it...
-
Oh - and I am not sure what horses you guys are around, but my horses put their ears to the side when they are BORED - like my horse when we are practicing in the ring when no people are around...he is BORED out of his wits! :-D

hey rachel995, dont quote the frkn bible its a bunch of crap! and ya know what? that end of days thing you people talk about, its gonna come from you guys not "god" because u expect it to happen so you will help it out. so shut up!

This video is a perfect example of the stupid things people do to animals in the name of fashion. None of the horses look relaxed or well trained to me. All I see is a bunch of scared babies being jerked around for no good reason. Not to mention their legs and feet have no substance to them at all. This video screams poor horsemanship all the way from the breeding shed to the show pen.

Wow some of you people are crazy on BOTH sides! I would never show my horse in a class where"shanking is necessary".My horses are my partners and they deserve better than to have their sensitive faces jerked on. Or bags waved in their faces (Sdlbrd). Or lighters flicked under their nose (QH). I have chosen instead to TRAIN my horse to look alive, present on a loose rein and set up when I stop.He is a Morgan and needs to look just as "up" as the Arabs do.He loves noise and looks to the crowd, btw.
