Lamborghini Gallardo Superlegerra not a performance car??

AWD Porsche 911 is not a performance car?... go figure.

@1000guitarplaya Really, so about 300Kw at the engine, great. With Kw/L about the same as Subaru's turbo engines, so even with 300Kw it should be fairly unstressed. The reduction in weight over the front axle should sharpen up the handling as well. Sounds like a winner.

RWD may be the winner in countries with dry roads all year round, but throw in some rain or ice and give me AWD. My AWD GT and RS Subarus I could drive hard regardless of the weather. My current BMW 330 and MB E420 are a pain in the arse when the road is wet, especially the MB when the engine torque is cut back to the point where other conventional cars are passing you by when the lights turn green and it is wet. Audi were too bland in their styling to consider, but from the B7 series on, wow.

AWD doesn't have a place in a sports car? Has anyone at Car and Driver even heard of Subaru Impreza WRX Sti? And the S4 is even more of a sports car than that. *shakes head*

I think this sedan makes a good practical dream car goal. It starts below 50k, and you can still get some of audi's greatest performance and sport tinted luxury. It does most everything well,a nd it's relatively within one's grasp....can't beat that.

APR put the s4 on their dyno and found it makes 330hp and 336 torques AT THE WHEELS, which means the engine is actually making close to 400hp! Too bad other brands won't follow this and advertise their wheel hp instead of engine. Like infiniti posts the g37 @ 330 hp but its putting less than 300 to the road.

@DONNYBOYY28 Although the AWD is nice, the reason id doesn't have a place in performance is because of the massive loss of traction you get. Yes... In a strait line, you will do alot better off the line. Although you lose more power due to having to supply power to the front & rear vice only the rear.
However, the big difference comes when pushing it in the corners. AWD causes serious understeer while trying to apply more power.
I learned this first hand when I switched from Subaru to BMW
