We love the Basin & Zeke's Island - "the Rocks", meh, not so much (folks are always getting caught by the tide & phoning 911 for "rescue" rather than retreating to high ground & waiting). Wish Corncake Inlet was still around - the clamming was soo much better with that salt water pulse twice a day.
Just think, the Fort Fisher Hermit must have walked that wall 1,000 times under the starlight. Get the book, "The Last Battle for Independence: The story of the Fort Fisher Hermit" at Amazon or elsewhere.
Thanks, carolinagirl032, for posting this video. I love this place! It's always been an adventure when I've hiked The Rocks--always something cool to see.
I remember fishing there when I was little

We walked the rocks while it was pouring down (ok, we're stupid.) We made it to Zeke's Island and had to turn around. Great dangerous fun!!
