This video is a little old, but I finally found a way to replace the fan on my Coolit Domino ALC Unit. It's actually easier than you think, but it's a matter of deciding whether you want to risk your warranty or not.

Three things to keep in mind:

*I replaced it with an Ultra Kaze because I wanted more airflow during low and medium settings, and this fan has a higher CFM/RPM ratio in my opinion.

*The original fan was making these clicking noises during low RPM setting, though it went away during high RPM setting, which told me the ball bearing on the fan was wearing out way before its 50,000hr life guarantee. For that reason, I decided to keep the fan, though I don't what's it good for since I cut off the header.

*The fan of your choice MUST have a 3 pin header! Unless you want more cable mess on your rig, the PCB will only take fans with 3-pin headers.

Any questions or comments feel free to leave them here or PM if you want.

I hope this video helps, and sorry for the length!

  • i have the same cooler and the temp on the cooler is always 5C higher than the probe on my motherboard. because the probe read the temp inside the processor so keep that in mind when buying a cpu cooler, i will not go that far but i will turn my fan to blow inside the case like the Corsair H50.

  • I dunno if this comment was directed to me, but I actually managed to break this cooler's pipe...watch my update videos and see what I mean.

I actually tried to remove the entire plastic shroud altogether, so it kinda looked like the H50 in a way, only the pump was sticking out.

To me, this cooler was not as idiot-proof as I thought, and trust me, I tend to break almost anything.

But you're right on one point, mobo temp probes aren't always accurate, and i think it's OS dependent too.

  • Also, blowing the air inside the case is a bad idea, unless you meant to blow it FROM the inside of the case, which would mean that you would set the fan to a push method instead of a pull method. Either way, if I wanted to buy a watercooler like this again (the H50), I'd get 2 really good fans and set it up with a push-pull method. And then I'd like to compare it against the Megahalem with the same push-pull setup :)

  • so are you seeing better temps or what?

  • Oh...and that's on the medium setting btw...I no longer need to run it at full speed :)

  • good vid

  • Why thank you, sir.

It's too bad this doesn't perform as well as my air cooler though. Check out my latest vid if you want.
