Jonah chapter 1 - rap
"The word of the LORD came to Jonah"
He was the son of Amittai
"Go to a great city call Nineveh"
Go preach against it ... it was not too far
But Jonah headed the other way to Tarshish
He paid a fare and took a ship, at Joppah
He did not ride at that time cause he ain got no car
Let's see what happen next, let's see if he did get far
He went aboard to try to run away from the LORD
But the LORD sent a great wind, one blow to the scene
A violent storm arose, unlike the sailors have seen
Sailors cry to their next of kin, we all Fin
The ship threatened to break
All the sailors were afraid
And each cried out to their god for their life's sake
As they were going to drown in Mediterranean Sea
not just some make up lake
Can't sail, have to bail, if a train we derail
Man this storm bombs, let's hope it don't start to hail
Mango, tango, bingo and lingo
Big yellow fish and fat pink flamingo
To lighten the ship, everything has to go
So throw it throw it, so they start throwing cargo
The sailor above had a panic attack
Throwing stuff overboard, anything they can get
While Jonah gone below, at the bottom deck
He fell into a deep sleep, he took a power na na nap
The captain of the ship went down to Jonah and said
"How can you sleep?" Get out of your bed
"Get up and call on your god, Maybe he will take notice of us so that we will not perish."
Is it me, it's you, It's you or me
The sailors tried to figure out who can it be
They cast lots and guess what, it fell on which he
Jonah who was responsible for this calamity
"Where do you come from?"
Which country do you belong?
"What kind of work do you do?"
"From what people are you?"
Jonah answered "I am a Hebrew and I worship the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land
End of the fun, sailors ask Jonah "What have you done?"
They knew Jonah was the cause, cause he was on the run
Everything we cast, Help us get back to land fast
"What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?"
Pick me up, throw me into the sea
It's that simple, it's that easy, just count 1, 2, 3
Then you will see what will happen, what will be
Maybe Jonah shouldn't run, but from the Lord he flee
Instead of picking him up, sailors tried rowing to land
The seas turn rougher with the best efforts of their hands
Then they cried out even when they don't understand
"Lord, don't hold us accountable for killing an innocent man" (Splash)
Discord, overboard, the raging seas halt
End the alarm, the sea calm, Sailors praising God
Raise palms, raise arms, singing praises, singing psalm
They greatly fear the LORD and for being unharmed
Now the LORD provided a huge fish
To swallow Jonah up and not left him in a ditch
3 days and 3 nights he was in the belly
He probably not happy and probably very smelly
That ends chapter one
