can you use this to draw a line in the air, like maybe out of the end of a hand held device?...if yes... bingo, a light saber!
-
So, let's see: there's a laser that can be refocused at will and is powerful enough to turn air into plasma. If the laser was programmed to create those balls of plasma in a straight line, let's say a 3-feet long line, and the apparatus was small enough to be carried by hand, we'd get... A LIGHTSABER!!!

needs air as a display medium...

@josvanr I don't think so. I think it would sound just like a lightsaber.
-

Have anyone seen Burtons showcase of their 3d display this year at CES NAB or are gonna see them in June in Paris?
Im curious if they have improved their technology any, like smaller, denser and more pixels.
In this video one might wonder if they cant show a static image for and thats why its moving all the time.
Anyone know if they can actually show a static 3d picture for several seconds without moving?
Indeed! Seeing it in person opens your mind to the possibilities when this technology evolves...

sorry to say this, but that didnt get me hard at all. I guess I was expecting a miniature Princess Leia begging Obi Wan for help or something. Why can't I rate something as "lame"?

Yes, it looks pretty lame. But so did the first LCD screens etc... It's an early prototype and it's pretty revolutionary to show anything in thin air.
