I was buying in the <$1000 range a while ago, and I ended up going Ion. Its a real left-field synth, compared to what most music is doing today. If you're looking for simplistic programming, go elsewhere, but if you love tinkering with sounds, I'd say go for it.

@bitcrushnpranksta Honestly, it really depends what you're using it for. I haven't really heard any distinctive difference in sound quality, but since the blofed is newer, and they're both digital, I'd have to assume the blofed has a higher sample rate and thus, sounds better. Pure speculation though. I've got no clue what either of their sample rates are.

this guy & Jexus are the best freaq drivers for my ears :)

Honestly, I'm a great fan of his review, but this gives absolutely no justice to the Ion; it's one of the most fun performance synths you can find, with a deep architecture and an amazing interface, he just went browsing presets... buying an Ion for presets (which btw kinda suck) is like taking a pornstar home just to have tea.

We love Kats-nori

does the ion sound better than the blofeld in person?

@delgesu1000 Fatiguant lol ?
