@AEMoreira81 BTW, there was alcohol involved; he was arrested. This was in Welland, ON, and that was a lake freighter.

Well it appears you all really don't know why the ship hit the bridge. The bridge's Manager or whatever wasn't paying attention and put the bridge back down before the ship crossed under the bridge therefore the motherfucker lost his job.

It was the bridges operator fault. Crew can't do anything to stop the ship already on this distance. But also I think communication between the vessel and the lowering bridge must not be well performed.
