Paramore - Twilight: Decode & I Caught Myself

This is me drumming to Paramore's two songs in the new movie Twilight. The 1st song is Decode and the 2nd song is I Caught Myself.

Decode has a dark tone to it, perfect for the Twilight soundtrack. That's what I loved about it. Dark songs are ALOT of fun to play and this one is awesome! It reminds me of two artists: The 1st verse reminds me of a Christian artist by the name of Ana Laura & then the rest of the song definitely reminds me of Evanescence. That's not why I love it - it's because of the drummer, of course. While I always tend to change the percussion in songs - with this drummer, I never want to change anything. He's great and he takes chances with alot of his beats.

For example, in the 2nd song, he could have easily played a simple quarter or even 8th note beat but nope, he takes it to another level. So, both of these songs were alot of fun to play but they were definitely challenging.

Again, I'll be looking for new music from them and want to see them perform LIVE one day too. If anyone knows if/when they're playing the east coast of the U.S., please let me know.

Update: I just found a video that has an "acoustic" version of Decode - woohoo - LOVE it! Check it out ... it's listed on My Favorites. I wish they sung ALL of their songs acoustically.

Followed the link. Sounds very good, but how can you play with gloves on? Doesn't your grip loosen up a little?

Thanks for following the link. I've always played with gloves ever since playing the drums in the St Patty's Day parade in NYC. Our drum section was told to hit the drums hard while going through tunnels & over bridges. We all came away with bloody hands - due to the extreme pressure & very cold weather. So, ever since then, I wear them to avoid messing my hands up w/ blisters. I use Zildjian gloves so they're meant to be worn while drumming.

Cold weather sux but it definitely shows one's level of dedication. I was always stuck in the basement, which was always freezing but would wind up sweating once the drumming started. I still get very hot while playing so always have to have a fan on, at least. I am not in a band. Instead, I chose to teach and there is only so much time in a day. So, I get my band-fix from doing some collabs w/ other musicians. As long as there's music to be played - I'm happy! :)

Love this. This is come very good drumming. I have been air drumming to these and other Paramore songs for months now and have to say you make this look good on the real thing. I saw how you gave it your interpretation, like how you put cymbal crashes where there weren't some before. Love that!
