UMBC President, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski Talks About the PROMISE Program

The President of UMBC, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, talks about PROMISE: Maryland's Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) and its importance for graduate education and success. He also discusses the Dissertation House (http://www.thedissertationhouse.com), and The Graduate School at UMBC's PhD Candidacy Reception. Dr. Hrabowski discusses the value of community and references the alliance structure of PROMISE, which includes graduate students from UMBC, the University of Maryland College Park, and the University of Marland Baltimore - The Founding Campus. The new PROMISE Pathways Project (NSF Award #1111217) is looking at ways to expand the program to serve graduate students from all of the universities within the University System of Maryland.

PROMISE is a program of the National Science Foundation. This video was taped during Dr. Hrabowski's talk with graduate students in April 2012.
