He's right about the Gates arrest. Ask anyone who's had an encounter with a cop- if you back-talk them at all, you go to jail. Cops are too often meathead, ex-military bullies who want to have a job where they carry a gun and tell people what to do. Plain and simple.

Maher is referring to the days when journalists like Walter Cronkite and Ed Murrow were revered, and the notion that investigative journalism should be a business would be rejected as being inherently offensive.

Schools, the war, the bailout, gov't payroll, road upkeep, are all socialized. My mom has worked all of her adult life and has never been offered health care insurance by her 3 different employers. It's too expensive to pay for it on her own. My mom pays taxes for all these "socialized" things. She hasn't had kids that attended a school for 10 years, and yet she still pays taxes for it. Why can't she get something out of her tax dollars, like some basic health care?
