Dragon Box Colour Comparison: Goku vs Vegeta

As you can see, DBOX footage has the strange green sky and pink-ish skin. The first air on TV Yamaguchi was aired about 3 weeks after than the original run on Fuji TV, and the footage of it has the...

First time I saw 2 versions side by side. Aside from maybe a few frames the Dragonbox looks great.

Im buyin the DBox.

With the brightness difference between the US and JP TV signals, the US DBox looks more similar to original broadcast than it does JP DBox.

So lemme ask. Is the Dragon Box only for people who like the original Japanese music? Cause I always hated the Japanese music. I want Bruce's music.

So ShuraFreak, do you think the DragonBox or the Remastered sets are better? And do you visit Daizenshuu forums cuz that forum and site for a while has been claiming that the DBOX has always been superior.
I do wanna get the DBOX btw, but I don't have enough money at the moment and I own all the Remastered Season Sets.

DBOX is indeed superior, but it's all about your preference. If you hate the japanese version of the show and love the FUNi dub with bruce faulconer than I'd suggest sticking with your season sets. If you like both versions I'd say keep the season sets and save for the DBOXes as well.

You know the Dragon Box has the actual original colors the way they were meant to be seen and not what you recorded right? They are remastered properly from the original 16 mm film prints and do not have altered colors like what you are used to.

That's completely wrong. I asked Toei about this problem before and they officialy said that DBOX footage didn't have the original colours the way they were meant to be seen because Toei didn't have the technique to correct colours properly in 2002 when they remastered the entire footage. Now they can do it by HD remastering like DB Kai, but they couldn't at that time.

O. Guess that makes sense. I only said that because it is claimed that the colors were unaltered like the "Remastered" Sets that Funimation released.

Here's a page that details what I'm talking about...

Most current filmed productions that are mastered on video have their frames scanned individually rather than to be run in real-time for adequate 24p, such as what the Dragon Box masters use. Those differences are far and away more crisper and seamless than it had been back when these had originally aired given the technical limitations.
