I just wanted to let everyone know that my original music is now available on Itunes. Just do a search for Rich Bischoff in the Itunes store.

Some basic blues shapes/scales and examples.

These videos were posted for my private students to look at after they go home from the lesson. The private lesson is more indepth than this video, and my playing in this video is to showcase some of the licks we work on at lessons.

If you don't understand this lesson or do not think the teaching part is indepth enough, It is because you are not one of my private students and you have not been to lessons.

I didn't make the lessons for youtubers. I made if for the few students who are at this level who come to private lessons. I post it on youtube for them. But have been ask by hundreds of people to make them public so they can check them out.

So, if you don't come to private lessons, don't make comments on the teaching part of the video. You weren't at the private lesson so you aren't aware of what licks were covered.

Scale Shapes used.

I get a lot of messages asking what amp or pedals I was using in this video. From what I remember I was using a Boss GT-6, using the amp modeling to model a Marshall amp, with a little bit of verb, then I just ran strait into the mixer to record the audio.

  • what guitar is that? a gp-2?

  • Fender MIM Stratocaster with tex mex pickups.

  • hi...you can give me please the backing track ?

  • five feathers d0t c0m

  • Needless to say, unbelievable playing. Oh how I wish I would have started playing earlier in life. I see you play a Strat, but what kind of pickups, amp or pedals do you use to get this sound. Thanks for great music.

  • jalles56. Thanks for the comment. The pickups are just the texmex pickups that came with the Strat. I was using a Boss Gt-6 directly into a mixer, no amp.

  • Great video, thx!! very funny too, you really enjoy it! May I ask u about the scales u use for playing over the V7 of a blues?? Thx

  • Poor 'lesson', but amazing guitar playing! Will learn a lot by watching this over and over =D

  • used sosfware or amp?¿

  • Sorry, A at the 17th position, I misworded there.

  • Hey just saw this video. The answer to your first question is Fm pentatonic (Amaj pen) up an octave. You know everything starts anew at 12th fret correct? So it would go that Fm pen at the 2nd fret would also appear at the 14th. Likewise, the A position will reappear at the 15th. You can play any frets in btw; every scale is movable up the entire neck asextensions (modes) of that scale.

  • nice

  • incorporate ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolian and locrian modes all up the neck in the key of A and while doing that spice them up with interchanges of pentatonic licks, maybe throw in some 1, 3, 5, 7 arppegios in the form of AM7, Am7, Adiminished, also string skipping licks sound great with blues, I like to use them with a swing feel.

  • for a new guitar do you recommen a fender or les paul style

  • Excellent....

    QUESTION

    Am Pentatonic..on fifth fret- ok,check

A maj Pent on second fret- ok check THEN...you go down to the 14th fret. What position of the pentatonic scale are you in?

AND... you went to other frets...what positions?

    brief explaination...i will get it.

  • yeah but the title says its a lesson
