I had this idea first >:| although I would've put it in a mile high vacuum chamber so it could be powered by the earths wobble and the minuscule fluctuations of the moons gravitational pull on the earth.

This is demonstrating chaos theory. A small change in the release point will mean a huge change in the pendulum's path.

Instead of a single arm on the pendulum, use two shorter ones connected in the middle. This will make it harder to find a steady rest.
