A Minecraft tutorial on how to build an automatic monster farmer that kills the mobs and collects the items. The spawning room is 50x50x2 and the machine can output a full inventory of gunpowder, arrows, feathers, and string in about an hour.

@killerblazer459 you need blocks above the lava. They should not be able to climb above or past the lava in any way.

@amazingred09 yeah but its gotta be big enough if you want to spawn a lot of monsters. Small rooms will only spawn a single monster every once an a while. A 50 x 50 room spawns packs of monsters over and over again.

@Astartta you need soul sand blocks directly above your lava flow. your lava knife should not stick out, it should align with the soulsand above it. In other words, from top to bottom.
Soulsand, lava knife, sign, no block.

@gaaraxpotatopie many solutions. Start a shaft on land, tunnel down a few and then horizontally until your under the ocean, then tunnel straight down. Make sure your under rock, not sand. :)

@wheresmycrunch time to restart! Lol. To build this trap is a lot of work and i had to restart several times and get my room the right size. I am not good at this stuff either that's why I had to look up the guide. It took me almost a whole day to complete this thing. But at the end of the day it is totally worth it cause I have enough gun powder to bomb my entire world.
