Oh yes, but this store is now closing at the end of the first quarter of this year (2011). However, Austin Community College has annexed this building, with the rest of Highland Mall, and they will renovate the buildings. Hopefully they can make this elevator glass.
-
@elevatorsonly they could have made that glass so easy!

Indeed, I too like those open, round lobbies, where I can go on the escalators and the elevator at the same time, and even if they are over 30 years old, they look a lot newer indeed.
-
That was stupid, they didn't put a glass elevator in.
-
Actually, this elevator is from 1979

Nicholas, please change ALL of your old elevators to inground(holed) hydraulic, since I know a former elevator mechanic and he said that holeless hydraulic was not used until the late 80's/early 90's
Yes, I know that.

Yes, and I think this wing was added in the late 1970's, even though plans were made in the early 1970's.

Wow, I didn't know that. I came across an ad on Ebay for Otis Holeless Hydraulic elevators from 1976. But since this mall was from 1971-1972, these would be inground hydraulics. Also, I have an Architectural Graphic Standards book from 1981, and it has a section on holeless hydraulic eleevators.
