A short trailer I put together that was shot with the new Glidecam HD 4000 and the Sony EX-1 XDCAM. I shot the entire thing handheld (except the balcony shots which were shot on a tripod). It was very heavy and I've already ordered the forearm brace.

  • Would have looked so much nicer on a DSLR.

  • @Fagottron We now shoot with DSLRs but at the time we were shooting with the Sony EX1

  • great work, very nice! how did you find the weight of the ex1 being hand held?

  • @constantian56 The ex1 was extremely heavy for me handheld. I had to get the forearm brace and that made it more manageable but still it was rather heavy to hold. I suggest the vest if possible.

  • Hey Joezeppi, wow!! great job!! I own a couple sony vx2100 cameras...and a sony ex3 the last 9 months....about to buy a sony ex1r and a glidecam hd4000. I film weddings, about 50 a year or so...been doing it about 2-3 years now. I love doing it and am very excited to add in the "flow" video that can be created with the glidecam! Thanks for posting your video. How long did it take you to get that good with the glidecam hd 4000 and is it that necessary to use a monitor with it?

  • @sonyex3user Hi, I practiced with the glidecam a few times a week just to get my arm strong enough to hold the weight. The best thing you can do is get the forearm brace for the glidecam if you're not using the vest, otherwise it's just too heavy with the ex1/ex3. I didn't use a monitor with it just the flip out lcd screen.

  • @joezeppi It's F.U.K.T (Feat. MetteMana)

  • @sonyex3user Sweet... it's not really necessary to use a monitor with it, but it'd be ideal as you're looking down *where the screen should be attached to at the bottom of the glidecam*, and you could also monitor where you're walking about.

If you do plan on adding a screen, it is possible to have the cables running inside the gliding post. Check out my thread on the glidecam official forum website for more details. :)

  • @joezeppi yeah tell me about it! I used the Sony PD-170 on the Glidecam HD-2000, and it's beyond heavy! lol... Do you feel more relieved using the forearm brace? How long does it extend your shooting time, roughly, if i may ask?

  • Ok 1:14 is the cutest thing ever
