English:
Humphry Osmond was the British psychiatrist who coined the term "psychedelic". This short video documents an experiment in 1955 in which he administered mescaline to Christopher Mayhew, a member of parliament. Mayhew ingested 400mg of mescaline hydrochloride and recorded his experience on camera.
The footage was originally supposed to be broadcast on BBC.
Mayhew himself maintains that it was a genuine mystical experience which "took place outside time" and wanted it to be shown. However, an "expert" committee of psychiatrists, philosophers, and theologians reviewed the footage and reached a unanimous verdict that Mayhew's experience was not a valid mystical experience. So it was never broadcast.

Italiano:

  • The fact that this wasn't even broadcast says everything about the awful state of the world these days where alcohol and tobacco (the ones that actually destroy lives in ever increasing numbers) are the legal drugs while hallucinogens and entheogens are illegal. It just makes no sense at all.

  • What an English way to enjoy drugs... Have one person take them and then film an extensive interview.

  • @00hurdf Literally senseless. At the moment I am trying to give up cigarettes - the govt tells me they hate cigs - they print the most horrific information on the packets - "This will kill you, photo of your filthy lungs" etc. but almost every shop I go into that sells things I need (like food and fuel etc.) sells cigs. My conclusion is that the govt is evil, they are the greatest profiteers of the sale of these life taking, highly addictive soul sucking drugs. PS That really helped!

  • @00hurdf Yeah it makes me so depressed that enthogens are illegal that I have to drink 3 shots of vodka to feel better.

  • 7:15. Oh, for the days when the BBC would ask *philosophers* what should be broadcast.

  • Do you believe the world around you is real?

What mayhew says in this experiment is true.

    We are all universal consciousness.

Only we in this reality have a perception of time

Everything we touch, everything we taste, everything we feel, everything we hear everything we smell and everything we see is created by our mind. That is not science fiction.

So,are any of us really here? Or are we just tiny parts of universal consciousness having an experience in the material world.

  • Oh hello, how do you do dear chap? I hope you are well and jolly happy. I am, I think the terminology is, "tripping balls" on mescaline lol

  • I'd accept the decision for the 1950's but for the world to seemingly regress further back past that particular moment is absurd. What the experiment here proves is the possibilty to "fast track" a sense of observation, to increase sensitivity and as some have said profoundly and positively change the way people see the world. But society wants stupid people.

  • THE DATE!?

  • @slaughterbilly .....it was the first time period Marty McFly went to.

  • @00hurdf these days? this was in 1955

  • lol, such a proper way to take drugs.
