There are many ways to breathe. With this form of tai chi, we go back to the basics. Scientifically, one is suppose to inhale thru their nose and exhale thru their mouth. Your nose hairs filter the air with your inhale. While exhaling thru your mouth, your stomach exercises the organs in your midsection gently. Many people do not know how to breathe properly. With our breathing, take your inhale to 80-85% fullness. When exhaling, leave 10-15% in your lungs. Never hold, force, pause or stop your breath. Breathing should be a continous slow, natural, deep cycle. No one really truely exercises their lungs. You can run 5 miles a day, but your lungs are going fast and shallow. Tai chi allows your lungs to be streched and exercised. By doing this type of breathing, your lungs will adapt and open, allowing more natural oxygen to flood your body. This extra oxygen will help heal your body, increase circulation, level hormones and NATURALLY bring your body back to the prime state of health.

David Chi's tip for breathing- "Breathe in thru your nose as if you were smelling the BEST flower you ever smelled. If alleric to flowers, think of the best food, or whatever you love. However, you only get to take one breath. Take in slow and make it last. Try for a 4-5 second inhale.

While breathing out, pretend that you are blowing on a hot soup spoon. The exhale should be slow and steady, and soft enough not to blow the soup off the spoon. Another outlook is the magic soap bubbles for kids. When you dip the wand in the bottle, you want to blow softly so you have many bubbles. If you blow to hard you will have to keep dipping. Happy Breathing ;)

  • @CornOnTheCobIIV - Thats ok. There are many ways to breathe. Try all the different ways. Happy Breathing ;)

  • okay, but i breathe fine until like after one minute i feel the NEED to take a really deep breath? and my girlfriend was questioning me about it when i was with her and on the phone? do i have a disease? or how can i stop myself from taking extremly deep breaths?

  • @Sk8erboy16641 - try to have your inhales and exhales lasts for 4-5 seconds. The longer your breath, the stronger your lungs will become. The most important aspect is daily practice. When your body requires a deep breath, take it but then exhale slowly. Any more questions, just write back ;)

  • @Sk8erboy16641 - Its always good to breathe deep and recycle the air in your lungs. If you are having pain I would definitely go see a doctor. Pain is your body telling you something is not right. Good Luck ;)

  • @Breathetobelieve it's not that i don't know how to breathe? im 16. but this only started happening randomly. like it almost feels good when i get the deep breath? but if i don't breathe fully it hurts and the more i think about it the worse it gets.

  • @Breathetobelieve i was joking... but i dont do it like that anyway but ill try

  • @Sk8erboy16641 - Sometimes your body and lungs are not use to taking full breaths. Imagine running a couple of miles. Imagine that strain on your legs if you didn't run for a couple of years. Same analogy with your lungs. If you are not use to taking deep breaths, it may almost feel like a panic attack and that you "need" to take a deep breath. First thing to do is listen to your body but also control your body. Take that deep breath when you feel the need and then try to control it afterwards.

  • @bencilegoist - Some people may feel dizzy at first because your body is not use to the increase in air and oxygen. If you feel dizzy, slow your breath and take a seat. Once you feel normal again, practice some more. In time, your body will adapt and the dizziness will fade away. Breathe in thru your nose like your smelling flowers and breathe out of your mouth as if your blowing out birthday candles. Make your breathing quiet enough that you can hear yourself breathe. Happy Breathing ;)

  • İ feeled dizzy at first but i feel ok after some time. How long we do this breathing? How do you breath at your daily life. İm looking for best to keep my breath natural when im on bus or computer. Sorry for my English.
