Director Michal Goldman traces the history of "The Coops," a cooperative apartment complex built in the Bronx by Jewish garment workers. The film tracks the rise and fall of the community from the 1920s into the 1950s, bearing witness to lives lived across barriers of race, convention and sometimes even common sense.

In this clip, former residents of the Coops recall celebrating May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, and marching in parades.

What is and was horrendous about collectivists of any stripe is that they believe they can do good by force. I don't care if they are trying to save the children, the workers, the whole world or the polar bears. Good cannot be accomplished by force and disregard for individual rights--the tragic, repulsive, murderous history and inevitable collapse of communism attests to this. No new gang of rights-ignoring thugs can do a better job than the old gangs.

Scary! Thousands and thousands of socialists? There should be a holiday commemorating the millions and millions of people killed by the communist party so socialists can sing songs. Then one celebrating the millions and millions of people killed by the National Socialist party so socialists can sing songs.
