Giuliani - Allegro on Yamaha GL-1 Guitarlele

I got this "toy" guitar 2 days ago. It is super cheap for a guitar that can stay tuned and be played properly. I was prepared for 'issues', there was a big fret buzz in the C string but the first thing I did was reject those and string up a set of D'Addario EJ45's. Once bedded - hey no buzz!

There is a highish action which is ok apart from barres on the 1st fret, very difficult to hold it down. There are a couple of 1st fret barres here and you can see I fail on both - first on low A# then on high A# :-(

Also at the end my mate texts me and the sound is obvious and puts me off the last 2 bars, darn! I've tacked on a morsel of 'work in progress' which may not get any further cause it's too flaming hard.

Well Aurelius the short scale and the tuning up to ADGCEA gives the strings a little more tension, which is no bad thing. There are only 2 drawbacks for me really

1 - The strings are close together so an arpeggio across say a straight A chord can be pretty tight to achieve, I have tried adapting with a partial bridge with some success

2 - The height of the nut makes it really hard to bridge on fret 1 as clearly demonstrated around 50 seconds into this vid

Otherwise it is a great instrument

I'm a bit of classical guitarist once in awhile... I'm curious how the attack is with the short neck scale and tuning. How does it feel?

Here's your first comment (and like) for this video. I really, really liked that Jupiter "construction" - sounded pretty FINISHED to me, though...
