Have you used the "video record" function on the camera or did you use the EOS Utility tool as interval-timer when you was taking the time lapse pictures?
Not sure about the 500d, but you can buy a intervalometer, which plugs into most dslr s which you use to take photos every x amount of time, if you wanted to have a similar effect. Software wise, i use adobe premiere, but there is alot of other software out there that could also speed up video footage.
So there's no possibility I can set it to take a picture every minute or so. My dad has a (much cheaper, non-SLR) G5 from Canon that can do this. Oh well...

i dont know if you've had experience with the t1i or not, but do u or anyone else know how long the battery life is when shooting video?
