  • Hey Bill,

Buttered Rum is some good tobacco that has a smell that makes you just want to chew on it. i got mine from a local tobacco shop.

i wonder if all the different blends of buttered rum from different shops taste different. probably so.

  • Good question! In addition to Ted's, I have some Buttered Rum from Iwan Ries, but I haven't smoked it in so long I couldn't tell you what it tastes like.

    Best,

    Bill

  • Hello Bill,

of which brand is your butter rum tobacco?

    Cheers

    Lars

  • I got this butter rum from Ted's Pipe Shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is one of their own blends available only from this store. I also have some buttered rum that I purchased a year or so ago from Iwan Ries in Chicago that can be ordered online from their site.

    Best,

    Bill

  • Hey Bill I just got buttered rum pipe tobacco from my local tobacco store too and it is delicious just like yours. You really do need a chainsaw or small nuclear device to open one of those things. How did you end up opening it?

  • you know i might be able to answer that question myself because believe it or not, i find it funny that every time i buy buttered rum (often because its my favorite aromatic) it smells slightly different. sometimes its sweeter like candy and sometimes its more of a cake smell. maybe they mix it different by means of using more of one tobacco or another. who knows. it seems to remain a mystery. the tobacconist doesnt even seem to know haha.

    happy smoking!

  • I generally take the chain-saw/sawzall route.

  • i just crack it open by slicing the whole cover by the knife since i dnt like to keep the packaging,,the rum n cherry blends should hv a dedicated pipe as the truly stick to the briar,,i tend to use even diffrent pipes for vanilla n other aromatics

    cheers

    ahmad

  • i just run over mine a few times with the panzer...they seem to pop right open..:)
